Paul Motenko purchased what is today known as BJ's Chicago Style Pizza in 1991 and grew the brand to an international company with 64 units and a valuation of just under 1 BILLION dollars in 2008. During our interview Paul discusses the culture of a restaurant, the importance of the business side, different marketing that works and how to prepare a brand for growth into multiple units.

Paul Motenko Bio
Paul A. Motenko is a Co-founder of BJ's Restaurants Inc. (formerly, Chicago Pizza & Brewery Inc). and has been its Vice President and Secretary since 2005. Mr. Motenko serves as Chairman and Secretary of Chicago Pizza Northwest Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of BJ's Restaurants Inc. Mr. Motenko served as Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of BJ's Restaurants Inc., from January 2001 to February 7, 2005 and Co-Chairman from February 2005 to June 2008.
He was a Founding Partner of Motenko, Bachtelle & Hennessy from 1980 to 1991. In this capacity, he provided accounting and consulting services to several restaurant companies, including BJ's Chicago Pizzeria. From 1976 to 1980, he served as an Accountant and Consultant for several accounting firms, including Kenneth Leventhal and Company and Peat, Marwick, Main. He served as a Director of BJ's Restaurants Inc. from 1991 to December 30, 2008. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Motenko graduated with high honors from the University of Illinois in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
In 2011 Paul co-founded a new restaurant concept called Stacked - Food Well Built which now has 4 Southern California locations and is poised for growth in the coming years.
